CD/DVD Burning - step by step

Problem definition
You want to use CDCheck to:
- provide means to check in the future if the CD/DVD is still readable and has no errors [Steps 1,2,3]
- make sure CD/DVD was burned successfully (the CD/DVD burned is an exact copy of files on disk) [Step 4]

In the tutorial the following locations will be used as an example:
"W:\MyCD\" - location of files/directories for burning to CD
"E:\" - CDR/DVD drive

Step by step

  1. Run CDCheck

  2. Click "Hash" at the top
    1. Enter as source "W:\MyCD\" where files were gathered for making the CD/DVD
    2. Click "Continue" and the hash File will be created
    3. After the hash file creation ends CDCheck should say "No errors were detected".
    4. Click "Continue" to close the window.

  3. (optional) Click "Check" at the top
    1. Enter as source the directory location (for burning) "W:\MyCD\"
    2. After the hash check ends CDCheck should say "No errors were detected".
    3. Click "Continue" to close the window.
This step is optional because it only makes sure that Step 2 was successful (Hash File was correctly created). You should see a note that hash file was detected and there should be no errors.

  4. Burn directory "W:\MyCD\" to CD/DVD with your favourite CD/DVD recording software

  5. Click "Compare" at the top
    1. Enter E:\ as source (the CDR/DVD drive)
    2. Enter W:\MyCD\ as reference (directory where files were gathered for making the CD/DVD)
    3. Check both compare directions
    4. Click "Continue" for the comparison to begin
    5. After the Compare ends CDCheck should say "No errors were detected" if burning was successful.
    6. Click "Continue" to close the window.
